Opportunity in a storm
Storms can provide wonderful opportunities for capturing photos that are a bit out of the ordinary. Everyday scenes can become transformed when storm clouds gather or the sun’s rays peek through. Here a couple of my recent photos that show the drama that can be created by a storm.
This photo was taken near the tip-head at Cobden during break in the storm that brought frequent torrential showers. The sun poked through briefly and I waited until another wave crashed onto the rocks before pressing the shutter. That involved drying the lens several times because as it was pointed to the sea there was a lot of spray about and it kept splashing the lens. Patience paid off however, and I was able to get this shot before the spray hit the lens again. The shot below, taken on the other side of the Cobden breakwater at what is known as the Wave Trap had similar problem of water hitting the lens (and the photographer).
