Extending my Range
I might have to add a Gallery to my portfolio. Eventually. I’ve started mentoring a teenage photographer and in the process of taking him to suitable sites I’m photographing a few things I haven’t done much of before. That’s good because I don’t want to be pigeon-holed. The places we are going provide opportunity for landscapes and for nature subjects but there are also other elements I haven’t given a lot of attention to before, or at least not for some time. So when we visited the Brunner Mine Historic Site I got photos of the river and ferns on a bank but I also paid attention to the other things around the site such as the sculpture pictured with this post, the bridge with its symmetrical lines and the remnants of industry that went on at this site including brick works and coke ovens. We talked about other things we could do on further trips and agreed that my interest in old farms buildings and dilapidated sheds would be good subjects. So I might have to extend my portfolio with a Heritage gallery.
